Our Story

We've always loved coffee - the intricacies of every part of the process. We started roasting coffee in modified pop corn makers and on sheet pans in the oven. That's when it became a full obsession. So in 2019, we made it a reality by buying a Diedrich IR-5 roaster and our first bags of green coffee, officially starting our journey as a commercial coffee roaster. Since then we've been dedicated to sourcing and roasting high quality green coffee, aiming to be the best in the business. We have bold ambitions (including a physical coffee shop) and we hope to have you along for the ride as we write our future.

Fueled Ambition

At the start of every day, every good idea, is coffee. We believe a cup of coffee is an opportunity to slow down, reset, and accomplish great things — and we believe that cup should be delicious.

We've been passionate about exceptional coffee since 2019, when we bought our Diedrich roaster. Since then, we've been chasing perfection — sourcing outstanding green coffee and dialing in roast profiles. We're a small team, but we're passionate, dedicated, and dreaming bigger than our current roaster.

Our coffees are ethically sourced, with many varietals coming from women-owned farms. All profits from our business go toward supporting local non-profits dedicated to breaking the vicious cycle of human trafficking — right here in our own backyard.

Why Battlecreek?

Our hometown doesn't always get the best press. But we've never seen it that way. We see a community full of hardworking, passionate people who show up every day and do great things — and we wanted to create something that reflects that. Battlecreek Coffee Roasters is our way of changing the narrative, one bag at a time.
